As technology in all areas increases in power, there is a constant movement toward miniaturization, and this is as true in the field of heating systems as anywhere else. Nowadays, it’s possible to have a furnace of about 50% the size of one built 50 years ago, and yet get the same or greater heat output. These come under the generic name of small gas furnaces, though the output can range from around 12,000 BTU up to about 30,000 BTU, making them an excellent choice and suitable for a wide range of applications, from the small house or apartment to non-residential locations.

These strictly non-residential locations can include a garage or workshop, where a large furnace would not be economically feasible since the furnace would be used only part of the time. With a small furnace, the low cost means it can be worthwhile buying and installing one specially for outbuildings, since it can be cheaper in the long run than relying on portable heating such as electric fires.

For a decent small furnace, look at one that has at least 80% efficiency, since this will give enough heat output to keep a workshop warm even in cold weather, and yet will enable you to keep running costs to a minimum. For even more cost savings, look a gas condensing furnace.

Most small furnaces can run on both natural gas and propane, and can be converted to run on one or the other. Having a propane furnace in an outbuilding can be a good choice, since a natural gas supply may not be available away from the main residence. It can also be a good idea to look at a furnace with a timer system which will ensure the heating is turned on a little while before the building is used, and is warm by the time you enter. Next time you are looking for a heating system for a garage or outbuilding, take a look at what’s available in small furnaces for good heating at low cost.

Looking for more Small Gas Furnace information?

Everyone knows how uncomfortable life can be when the weather gets too hot or humid. But how many people think about this until the hot weather hits? Surely, it makes excellent sense to make sure that all systems in the house or business premises are working long before the sun comes out to play havoc with us. With this in mind, air conditioning service will ensure that the system is checked over in good time. Indeed, air conditioning repair is the first thing anyone should do well before spring has sprung!

What a lot of people do not realize is that with the warmer weather comes some rather unruly behavior for example, it has been proven that more crimes are committed during hot spells, and more people will have temper tantrums when they are too hot. Indeed, as the temperatures soar, so do crime levels and this is so easy to avoid for sure.

For example, how many people would stay in a shopping mall or individual shop if the temperature was extremely high? Business people are savvy enough to know that they must make the client comfortable for them to stay and spend money! With this in mind, most malls have their clients contribute to a fund so that the experts come in regularly to make sure that all the systems are working well and efficiently.

In the home, things can get just as out of hand when the system is needed and then found to be not working. Children get tetchy, adults get even more frustrated and the whole household is disrupted. Better then to get the whole system looked at on a regular basis to avoid disruption to the family routine.

Most contractors will have set charges to get systems checked out once or twice a year. By booking with the same contractor, and giving him repeat business, he is more likely to come running should there be an emergency. But if the system is kept up to date, with vents and moving objects cleaned and greased respectively, there really should be no need to have an emergency at all.

Whenever there is a heat wave, naturally, everyone will put on their systems without a second thought. However, those who do not have regular check ups may find that they cannot get a technician to come and look at the system for quite a while. And when they do, the rates can be quite exorbitant since they will be much in demand.

There may also be a need occasionally to get the whole system renewed completely. Of course, this can cost a lot but it will pay back in the end. When a house is being prepared for sale, people often ask about this kind of system to see how old it is or when it was fitted. It could be a deal breaker if the system is ancient, or is not working at the time that viewing is going on. It is better to pay up front and recover the cost in the price of the home.

Connor Sullivan recently contacted a Louisville air conditioning repair specialist to fix a problem at his office. He called a Louisville air conditioning service company to replace the ac unit at his mother’s house.

Perhaps one of the best products ever invented was the air conditioner. Nothing beats the luxury of being able to sit inside on a blistering hot day as the air conditioner bursts forth super cooled air to chill your home. For many years, our only solution was the window unit air conditioners. These loud and often quirky pieces of equipment helped cool you down but were often inefficient in cooling larger areas. You either had to install multiple units or deal with part of your house being uncomfortably warm. Central air conditioners were a great improvement and they do a fairly effective job at cooling the entire house. Nowadays, they are fairly standard in many newly build homes. But, there is a new kid on the block in the world of air conditioners and it is called the mini split.

A mini split represents an entirely new concept in air conditioning technology in that they are ductless. The need for ductless ac looms large as many houses don’t have any space for incorporating the large and bulky duct systems needed for implementing a traditional central air conditioning system. Try to modify an existing house that doesn’t have space for ducts can be incredibly expensive and often result in a cumbersome final design. Mini splits require very little space and are much easier to install.

While traditional central air systems have one unit inside and one unit outside that work together to cool air and force it through the duct system, mini splits feature multiple units throughout the house. Instead of relying on ducts, mini splits feature refrigerant lines that run from a single unit outside to each the additional ones inside. These refrigerant lines cool the air and the indoor unit distributes the cool air throughout the house. Some homes can do well with just one unit while other larger houses may incorporate up to 3 and sometimes even more zones to full cool the house.

So, while the overall cost can be much cheaper than central air systems, you do have to content with multiple indoor units. While they are small, this can be viewed as a negative by some. As far as cooling economically, however, you aren’t likely to find any negatives here. You see, traditional duct systems can be incredibly inefficient because the cooled air is forced through a massive duct system where much of the cooling is lost during its travel to the register in a particular room. With min splits, the coolant travels through extremely efficient refrigerant lines directly to the units that expel the cooled air. Not only will your mini split cost less to install, your ongoing bills should be cheaper as well.

If your home is woefully without ac, then taking some time to investigate mini splits a little more may be just the solution to your sweat covered brow. In one day, and for less than the cost of a full central air system, you can be chilling in style thanks to a newly installed mini split air conditioning system.

Committed to creating a healthy, safe, and comfortable indoor environment, JustMiniSplits.com is a supplier and skilled specialist in the field of Environmental Control Systems.

Many people think of air conditioning units as large and bulky equipment that is a necessity but does not add anything to the appearance of the room. Professional air con companies can provide you with options that are not only sufficient, but attractive. One of the very exciting units available is the portable unit. This one can be moved from room to room with you. It is no longer necessary to cool the entire office or home in areas where you are no longer working. Keep the area cool where you are and save additional money.

The air conditioning company can give you many designs in conditioning that will make your choice easier to make. The units that are attached to the ceiling provide all of the cool air you desire and do not take up any area of living space. The cool air falls down upon you and you will immediately feel the difference in your comfort. As warm air rises, the cool air will fall and bring the temperature to a comfortable level.

Another unique feature that is available with an air con unit is the remote control. Whether you have a unit that is suspended from the ceiling, or you choose one of the ceiling ducted units, or the wall mounted model, you do not have to move from your chair to change the temperature in the room. Simply pick up the small remote control and set the unit to the perfect level you desire. The unit responds immediately and you will feel the difference right away. Nothing could be easier than controlling the temperature in the room from the comfort of your chair or bed.

Air con is very important to your home or office as the level of cooling in your home will go a long way toward determining the kind of day you will have. If you are too hot, you are not going to feel as well as you should. Being too warm can actually make you feel like you are losing strength. You can choose one of these attractive units to provide you with all the comfortable cooling you need for living every day.
When you have made your choice and the unit has been installed, you can forget about it and just allow the unit to keep your space at the temperature level you need. Such comfort and convenience can only be accomplished with this type of conditioning unit. Satisfaction will be your consistent result.

To seek professional air con services, visit http://www.EricoolAircon.com now.

When making the choice of how to heat the home, house of worship, or office, the options can be overwhelming. Many people are finding that more than ever, it makes perfect sense to switch from their old, ugly propane tanks to clean burning natural gas to fulfill their heating needs. Natural gas is up to 50% cheaper than all other fuels. All fuel you pay for is the fuel you use. It is a different case entirely with propane. A little more than 5% of the propane paid for just cannot be forced out of the tank, so it can’t be used. Think how much that unused propane can add up over the years. Often times, home or office owners call the propane service before the weekend, no matter how much is left in the tank, just in the off chance they could run out. Who wants to live that way, always fearful of being left in the cold when weekends or holidays come around?

It is a constant, reliable source of fuel. There is no “running out” or refilling, and there is only a charge for the amount that is used. If a workplace or home is currently using appliances fueled by propane, usually a simple service call from the local gas utility or furnace repair shop can convert the appliances over to natural gas, most often with little trouble and only a small cost to the consumer. It’s lighter than air, so it poses significantly less of a threat than the heavier gas, propane. If the propane tank leaks, a pool of the gas would form and ultimately be absorbed into the ground the tank is mounted on. That is, of course, if it is not accidentally ignited by heat or flame. Remember also, that propane is stored within the tank under extreme pressure, so a puncture or spark of any size could cause an explosion that could result in the loss of life or property.

Propane’s advantage, of course can be seen in its portability, and its ease of accessibility in areas where natural gas is not available. But let’s not forget, the refilling, the buying of new tanks, what a hassle! Companies are increasing their range in the hopes of creating new customers. Most urban areas in the United States have access to natural gas today, and often times it takes only a phone call to the local provider to find out what it entails to bring the cleanest burning fossil fuel into the home and begin heating it the “natural” way.

In terms of energy efficiency, space heaters are great for adding supplemental heat when the main heating source is inadequate or when central heating may be too costly to install or to operate.

In fact, the use of a space heater may even be less expensive to operate if it is only used to heat a small room or area, or to boost the temperature of rooms used by individuals sensitive to cold. In addition, space heaters do not lose any energy through ducts or combustion, so they are considered to be almost 100% efficient. Almost all of the warmth generated by a space heater will radiate into a room.

For industrial areas such as warehouses and workspaces, fueled heaters such as kerosene and propane heaters are great because they use little to no electricity. However, these cannot be used in areas without adequate ventilation, and they can carry some safety risks.

For home use, electric space heaters are more suitable. Most electric space heaters use convection to heat a room. When used as a supplemental heat source in combination with an existing central heating system, portable electric space heaters can be very affordable. As well, some electric heaters also rely on radiant heating, meaning they emit infrared heat in the same way the sun warms the earth. Only the objects around the heater are warmed, and for this reason, the use of these heaters can be very energy efficient, as an infrared heater immediately transfers heat to occupants and not the entire room or area. These heaters can also heat up a room or area much faster, as heat is easily directed to the space being heated in a precise beam. Lastly, consider the use of an oil-filled radiator heater. Like electric space heaters, oil-filled heaters are ideal when your central heating system is not sufficient. These are safe, silent, and energy efficient because they automatically maintain optimal room temperature.

Therefore, with all of the above heating choices available, you can still save money on your energy bill and keep your home or living space comfortable. For additional money savings, follow these tips as well:

1. Choose a heater with a timer or that is thermostatically controlled. These heaters can avoid the energy waste of overheating a room.

2. Purchase a heater of the proper size for the room or area you wish to heat. Do not choose an oversized heater, and pay attention to watts. With a 10/1 ratio of watts to square feet heated, a 1500 watt space heater (120 volts) will heat an insulated area of 150 square feet, and a garage heater rated at 5,000 watts should heat an area over 400 square feet.

3. Try not to leave your space heater on the high setting, and turn the heater off when you are away. Space heaters can consume large amounts of energy if left on continuously.

4. Keep your doors and windows closed in order to minimize heat loss and for optimal heating effectiveness. Frequent switching a heater on and off and adjusting the thermostat will also increase energy usage.

If you are starting to think about how nice it would be to own a patio heater it will be beneficial to read the following article to gain some knowledge about the different types of heaters.

Electric Patio Heaters

If you have an enclosed patio or porch and would like to be able to flip a switch and have some heat when you need it you will want to look at electric patio heaters. There are basically two categories of electric heaters, portable heaters and permanently mounted heaters, both work by using radiant heat to directly warm people and objects and not the air around them.

Portable heaters are great to have around for warming up any enclosed area from a porch to a garage. These heaters can be moved around easily and used wherever they are needed. The main difference between these heaters is their wattage which determines how much space the heater can effectively warm.

The permanently mounted heaters definitely take a little bit of planning and some professional assistance with mounting to make sure they are installed to code. These heaters are installed far out of reach of pets and animals, make no noise and really effectively heat up an area. There are streamlined models available that do not take away from any existing décor. These heaters come in different lengths and different wattage as well which determine how much area they can heat. These types of heaters allow you to customize your order to the measurements of your specific space.

Propane Patio Heaters

Another type of patio heater that is very popular is the propane patio heater. These are the heaters that you see on your favorite restaurant patios. They usually can come equipped with wheels which makes moving them around a patio very easy. They can heat up to around 175 square foot area; so, depending on your space you may want to purchase more than one. These heaters have become very stylish, so they can really accent any type of décor. The heat capacity of propane heaters is determined by their BTU output and the higher the BTU’s the more powerful the heater. Quality patio heaters range between 40,000 and 46,000 BTU’s of power. These heaters run off of the same gas tanks as many outdoor barbeques. There are also table top versions of propane patio heaters that are nice to have if you are just trying to heat a smaller space or want a unit that is easy to move around and store.

Natural Gas Patio Heaters

The third type of outdoor heater is the natural gas heater. These heaters are directly connected to natural gas lines and therefore, never have to be refilled with fuel. They are usually permanently mounted to decks or patios so you will want to make sure that you pick the right spot for your heater. The strength of these heaters are also determined by BTU’s which range from 40,000 to around 50,000. These heaters are a little more streamlined than most propane heaters because they do not have to house a tank. A nice feature to have with propane or gas heaters is a safety shut off feature which will automatically cut off the fuel if the heater is tilted or knocked over.

What could be more luxurious in winter than a warm bathroom? Fortunately, this is one luxury that almost anyone can achieve without sacrificing period style or your pocketbook. Many of the most desirable options are also the most affordable. For instance, plug-in electric towel warmers can be had for under $150, whereas overhead rain shower fixtures start at around $60. You can find a good pressure-balance mixer for as little as $200. However, there is another side of the spectrum. Jetted pedestal tubs and steam shower systems can easily set you back a few thousand dollars.

You will find that towel warmers and radiators come in two basic styles: the traditional round tube shape and the flat-panel “Euro” style. Another option is a tubular towel-warming basket. This handy basket can be mounted in tight spaces to keep hot fluffy towels within easy reach.

Although every towel warmer generates some heat, many of the hard-wired versions are powerful enough to be rightly considered radiators. Inexpensive electric models that put out 100 watts or so are great, because they not only dry the towels in the bathroom but also reduce dampness and mildew. If you go with a more powerful hard-wired electric or hydronic towel radiator, it can easily heat a larger space, especially if it’s sized and placed properly. Even better, neither gets too hot to touch. An electric towel warmer should only reach 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Hydronics can range between 120 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on how hot you keep the system. You can think of these radiators as zoned heating.

A good dealer will help you find a unit to match the needs of your space. You need to take into consideration the amount of tile or stone, the type and location of existing heat sources such as steam radiators or forced air, and the number of windows. If your bath is too tiny for even a small towel warmer, see if you can find room along the baseboard for a couple or horizontal radiator panels to keep your room nice and toasty.

When it comes down to it, however, it’s the water in the bath or shower that warms the most. If you plan on upgrading the shower anyway, consider installing a pressure-balance or thermostatic mixing valve. Pressure-balance valves are less costly and simpler, keeping the water pressure in the shower constant and preventing sudden fluctuations in water temperature, as often occurs when the toilet is flushed, for instance.

Thermostatic valves are more sophisticated. They mix the hot and cold water to fairly precise temperatures, usually within one degree Celsius of the setting. These valves also compensate for fluctuations in the incoming water pressure.

For a truly luxurious valve, plan on spending at least $1,000, although you can easily spend more. Conveniently, many of these mixers are available in suites that include period-inspired shower heads and cross-handled knobs or levers. Some even come with memory settings, so each family member can choose and record a preferred shower temperature.

If you are a shower lover who can’t get enough humidity in winter, consider a steam shower. To install one, you’ll probably need a major retrofit, since there must be a spot for the generator and you may have to make modifications for the steam shower doors. Once it’s installed, a twenty-minute steam uses a fairly low amount of water: only about two gallons. But a basic system—including a generator, steam head, and temperature controls—starts at about $3,000. And if you’re thinking about adding stereo speakers, light, or aromatherapy packages, expect the price to climb higher.

Do you prefer an old-fashioned tub for your bath? Reproduction roll-top designs with claw feet begin at about $1,000, and you can choose between either cast iron or the more environmentally friendly acrylic. There is no place better to soak than in one of these deep tubs. They also come in double-ended styles that will accommodate two, or multiple children. These tubs will fit any décor, as you can specify claw feet in the style and finish of your choice. For a dramatic flair, you can go with a custom-made tub in copper, steel, marble, and even teak.

For a traditional tub that will accommodate a water- or air-jet system, go with a pedestal or Roman tub. The skirt will conceal the tubes and motor. Strategically placed jets will turn any bathtub into a home spa. Do expect to pay upward of $4,000 for a fully equipped air-jet tub.

As the popularity of gas fires is increasing, people are now interested in buying the most modern and technically sound gas fires. The age of wood or coal fired gas fires have long been over now. Same is the case with the old style chimneys that used to protrude from the roof and looked rather awkward. People, though still interested in letting out the flue gases produced during the combustion, want a more advanced outlet. Fanned flue gas fires are just a good solution for that.

Fanned flue gas fires are manufactured with two basic designs. The first design is based on the old style surface mounted structure in which the flue is discharged outside either through a chimney or through a concealed hole in the sidewall. In modern homes, the concealed outlet is more prevalent as compared to the chimneys. The second design is a side flue expulsion system that is used in homes with limited space or in absence of a proper rear flue outlet.

They employ the concept of power flue that is an open fronted gas mechanism that uses an electric spark for combustion and thus entirely runs on electricity. The fan system is embedded into the structure that expels the flue. The system works efficiently under all cases and can run on natural gas as well as electricity.

If you are interested in installing a fanned flue gas fire in your house, do look over these tips as they can help you in understanding the whole phenomenon of gas fires and their accessories.

• Before installing a fanned flue gas fire in your house, assess the places where you want to place them. Most people want gas fires in their living rooms and bedrooms. These are also the perfect places as we spend most of our time in them.

• Another thing to look is the outlet features given in your home. If there is a chimney then you will not have to do a lot of work. You can simply install a fanned flue gas fire in the allocated place and the flue would be discharged in to the atmosphere through this chimney. Otherwise, you can create an outlet by yourself. Side flue can be used in places if there is no possibility of making an outlet.

• Similarly, the choice of electricity or natural gas entirely depends on you. Electricity would definitely be a more costly option as compared to natural gas. You can also pick the design of the gas fire and the finish, among other things. Some fanned flue gas fires are available with a manual control and are available at lower rates. Automated gas fires are more expensive, but are totally hassle free. They also come with the most modern designs and features.

•	You should also keep the efficiency factor in mind with a gas fire having an efficiency rate of at least 70%. Poor heating and huge expenditures are the result of lower efficiency.
